PRSSA Day
To all of the aspiring PR Pros in the process of earning their degrees, it’s never too late to get an early start on networking for your career. GKC-PRSA lends itself to be a resource to students and student chapters of PRSA alike. Students can begin by attending our New Pros events or bring their peers to our annual student career development day.
In what is becoming an annual tradition, GKC-PRSA has hosted college students from around the region in its annual PRSSA Day, which provides students a day-long opportunity to get feedback on their resumes, receive an inside look at how to market yourself for the job you want, and hear from local PR professionals on “life in the biz.”
Our 2009 PRSSA Day was on Oct. 23 at the Kansas City Public Library downtown. The chapter hosted a great day of student career development with approximately 130 registered participants, entitled “Secrets to Success.”
We also had nearly 50 additional members and non-members join us for the special lunch program with personal branding expert Dan Schawbel. The author of the best-selling book, “Me 2.0″ and columnist for BusinessWeek magazine, Schawbel gave his recipe for effectively branding yourself using the Internet. Feedback was positive with attendees complimenting not just the organization, but most importantly, the great value that it provided.
