A Letter from the President

There is nothing I can say about 2020 that hasn’t already been said, meme’d, gif’d, or TikTok’d. It was a year unlike any other, and one that we will never forget. As president of the Greater Kansas City PRSA chapter, I wish I would have done more and engaged the chapter and board better. But, the time of excuse making and “what if’s” is over.
I’m going to take the lessons I learned in 2020 and use them, not as crutches, but as springboards to move forward into 2021. We have an incredible board this year, filled with hard-working, experienced professionals. Some names and faces you may recognize, and others you may not. We’re committed as a board this year to engage our members in meaningful ways and to make 2021 a memorable year, for all the right reasons.
First, we’ll be bringing you some fantastic programming this year, starting with the celebration of Black History Month with PRSA National Chair-elect, Felicia Blow. If you haven’t registered for that event yet, you can do so here. Be on the lookout for news about the Inez Kaiser Scholarship we announced at the PRISMS last year and more professional development events in the coming weeks!
Second, our chapter is hosting the PRSA Midwest District Conference this fall. This opportunity will allow us to showcase Kansas City and all of the amazing PR talent we have here in the City. If you’re interested in being a part of the planning committee, please contact me directly at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support of the GKC-PRSA chapter, and we look forward to what will be an incredible year at PRSA!
Alex Miller - GKC-PRSA President
